Isolation and Identification of Ginger Essential Oil

چکیده مقاله:
ABSTRACT: The essential oil of plant material is the fraction isolated by means of several methods such as liquid carbon dioxide, microwaves and low or high pressure distillation employing boiling water or hot steam and is chemically defined as terpenoids namely monoterpene and the oxygenated form. Since these compounds might be employed as flavour contributors due to their chemical nature, it is the aim of this investigation to extract and identify the chemical compounds present in the essential oil of ginger. The essential oil of ginger was extracted and isolated by the application of Clevenger apparatus and the total phenolic compounds responsible for flavouring, preserving and antioxidant activities were determined. The results indicated that Zingiberene belonging to the sesquiterpene was the predominant compound present in the oily fraction. Therefore further investigation concerned with characterisation and applications for particular activities are recommended. Keywords:Essential Oil, Ginger, Phenolic Compounds

متن کاملBioassay-guided isolation and identification of antifungal compounds from ginger.
A bioassay-guided isolation of antifungal compounds from an African land race of ginger, Zingiber officinale Roscoe, led to the identification of [6], [8] and [10]-gingerols and [6]-gingerdiol as the main antifungal principles. The compounds were active against 13 human pathogens at concentrations of <1 mg/mL. The gingerol content of the African land race was at least 3 x higher than that of ty...
متن کاملSeparation identification and antioxidant evaluation of zingiber officinale essential oil
Usage of herbal medicine has been under so much attention for many years. They are gradually replacing synthetic drugs in pharmaceutical fields due to their fewer side effects. Nowadays, essential oils are widely used for the treatment of diseases as well as being applied as pesticide. In this study, 32 components of Zingiber essential oil were identified representing 97.42% of the extracted oi...
متن کاملIsolation, Identification and Evaluation of Oil Hydrocarbon Decomposing Bacteria from Contaminated Areas of Oil Fields
Microbialbiodegradation is known as an effective and harmless method to overcome environmental pollution with oil hydrocarbon. Some bacterial species were isolated from the Sarvestan oilfields (Iran, Fars province), then identified and applied for oil hydrocarbon decomposition. A carbon-free minimum medium (CFMM) containing 1% crude oil was used to isolate bacteria through incubation at 30°C in...
